Post Coronavirus Sustainable Food Supply Chain Recovery Trends: Constructing a Demand Strategy focused on Future Global Business Growth in Tomorrow’s Smart City

Global Sustainable Supply Chains leaders are successfully managing their way through a difficult post Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic event. Sometimes uncoordinated global quarantines have created unplanned constraints hence some sustainable food supply chains are near catastrophe. Without question in this post COVID-19 environment the Global Food Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) must first address governments, retailers and end customers’ immediate needs demand requirements. However, CSCO’s must develop and implement critical mid-term and long-term finish goods demand and raw materials demand planning strategies during the post COVID-19 recovery. This research study presents global supply chain food Industry 4.0 trends which could help construct tomorrow’s global sustainable food supply chain and smart city. First this paper reveals three demand planning research themes; growth markets, market segmentation and consumer insight which complement future sales and marketing growth strategies. Second, this study explores Industry 4.0 technologies and business model innovations which are widely adopted by demand planning enterprises across Asia, Europe and the Americas. Lastly, this research paper’s closes the loop by discussing key Industry 4.0 innovations which contribute to both sustainable food supply chains as well as tomorrow’s sustainable smart cities. This paper is laser focused on global sustainable food supply chains nevertheless this study applies to all consumer product companies.
